William P. Wilson has 35 years of executive experience in the communication industry working with television networks, motion picture companies, and Broadway Theater. He has developed collaborations between financial institutions, the entertainment industry, and the corporate sector to launch various ventures. He has held positions ranging from Producer, President & CEO to Chairman of the Board. Mr. Wilson has supervised all elements of information distribution.
As President of Saturn Pictures Corp, Mr. Wilson has produced motion pictures distributed by MGM, CBS Films and United Artists, where he has been associated with such well known films as “The China Syndrome”, “Eddie and the Cruisers”, “Heart Like a Wheel”, “Sidelong Glances of a Pigeon Kicker”(“Pigeons”) and “King Cobra”. He also was an Executive Producer for Screen Gems/Columbia Pictures.
On Broadway, Mr. Wilson produced “Strangers”, a play about Sinclair Lewis and Dorothy Thompson starring Bruce Dern and Lois Nettleton. Considered a pioneer in political broadcasting, he headed the media teams for President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy. He produced the "Great Debates" for John F. Kennedy during the 1960 presidential campaign. As Media Consultant to the White House, he handled the transition from the Eisenhower Administration to the Kennedy Administration for all television and radio. He also produced the first live presidential press conference originated for President Kennedy.
Mr. Wilson segued from his work in political media to work in the field of television and motion pictures, where he was a senior producer at NBC, CBS and ABC—producing News Division series and specials. Mr. Wilson was later a film production company head and theatrical producer—returning from time to time to work in political campaigns of special personal interest, where, as President and CEO of Communication Task Force, Inc., he provided media production for state, national and international campaigns for the U.S. Senate, Governorships and American and international Presidential races. His work has been recognized by nominations for the Emmy in television and the Academy Award in motion pictures.
As an Adjunct Professor, Mr. Wilson has taught courses in film and television production and history of cinema at both Hunter College and George Washington University.
Larry Grimes is a lawyer, practicing in Washington, D.C. His over 35 years of legal experience includes more than 7 years at the SEC, where he was both a Branch Chief and the Assistant Chief Trial Attorney in the Division of Enforcement. Thereafter, he was Senior Chief Counsel for Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh for nearly 7 years.
Following his corporate experience at Westinghouse, Grimes engaged in an international practice in Washington / London for 3 years on behalf of major British industrialists / merchant bankers until he was asked to merge his practice with McGuire, Woods & Battle, a large Richmond, VA law firm. He opened and managed McGuire Woods' Washington, DC office for a number of years. In 1997, he left the law firm to engage in international business and to practice law independently.
He has also served as General Counsel to a number of corporations and has, for the past 16 years, served as General Counsel for the National Coal Council, a Federal Advisory Committee to the Secretary of Energy. He was Chairman of the advisory board of the Lionel Hampton Jazz festival at the University of Idaho.
Dawn Lodge Golden has over 22 years experience in systems and marketing management and development. Eight of those years include internet experience in a wide breadth of functional areas—project management, databases, CRM, web development, marketing, design, ecommerce, programming and networks, with a strong focus on information architecture and analysis.
Ms. Golden spent 11 years in marketing information systems at MCI Telecommunications. While there, she was one of the key senior management team that helped initiate and develop MCI's web hosting business in 1996, and create the first shopping mall on the internet during the business inception of the "internet Gold Rush". She also served as Sr Product Manager for MCIʼs internet search product—back before Google existed, and Yahoo was only in its infancy stage. Ms. Golden went on to manage and support ANS/AOL major clients such as Barnes & Noble, Cendent and The Knot with their web hosting, internet connections and network security before managing Nextel's 1100 page web site in Product Development.
In 2000 Ms. Golden founded Elastic Interactive, a web/media development firm in Great Falls, VA that handles all forms of e-strategy for businesses—web site design and development, effective content, ecommerce, marketing branding and promotion, and search engine optimization. She most recently consulted with WorldSpace Satellite Radio to overhaul their web site and to set up their new Investor Relations web site for their IPO. Her personal talents blend well with the creative side of web design as well as the ArtsBacker creative world—she is an accomplished stand-up comedian, musician, artist and interior designer.
Ms. Golden has a BS in Biology/PreMed/Computer Science from Bowling Green State University and an MBA in Information Systems from George Washington University.
Lester S. Hyman is a Washington, D.C. attorney with more than 50 years of experience in law, business, politics, the arts and international affairs.
After serving in the federal government as an attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and later as Senior Consultant to the Secretary of U.S. Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Hyman returned to his home state of Massachusetts where, as a protégé of John F. Kennedy, he was Chief Assistant to the Governor, Secretary of Commerce and Development, and Chairman of the Democratic Party of that State. He also taught at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
He then returned to Washington where he was a founder of the prominent law firm of Swidler Berlin representing major business clients both in the United States (20th Century Fox, McGraw Hill) and overseas: France (Roussel-Uclaf), Germany (Hoechst), Japan (Matsushita, Mazda), Korea (Hyundai), as well as representing a number of countries (Haiti, Liberia, Bermuda, and the Virgin Islands).
Mr. Hyman has been very active in international peace resolution work in Africa and Central America where he has worked closely with former President Jimmy Carter and the International Negotiating Network (INN). He was President Clintonʼs representative at the signing of the Guatemala Peace Treaty (as well as Clintonʼs appointee to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Commission). He is the author of the 2003 book “U.S. Policy Towards Liberia”.
He currently serves on the Board of the Center for National Policy, the Center for Advanced Defense Studies, the International Intellectual Property Institute, and the BVI College and is Strategic Advisor both for the Venture capital Company Oxantium LLC and ArtsBacker.
As a devotee of the arts, Mr. Hyman served on the D.C. Arts and Humanities Council, and the Boards of the Norton Simon Museum of Art and the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company.
Mr. Golden has spent over 17 years fostering the growth of early stage companies in roles ranging from sales and marketing to product development to corporate strategy. Mr. Golden is currently involved with two early stage companies, Smart Grid Group and ClearPath Immigration. Mr. Golden founded Smart Grid Group in January 2009. The Smart Grid Group provides strategic advisory and consulting services to companies in and adjacent to the smart grid industry. Services include market development, technical due diligence, market intelligence, technology and business strategy, and patent & IP strategy. ClearPath Immigration provides solutions for creating and managing U.S. immigration forms and filings, doing for immigration what TurboTax does for tax filings. Mr. Golden joined ClearPath in December 2008 as its second employee and is responsible for the companyʼs corporate strategy and fundraising.
Most recently Mr. Golden was Vice President of Corporate Development for GridPoint, responsible for developing key strategic initiatives, including M&A and corporate alliances. As Vice President of Product Strategy for GridPoint, Mr. Golden was responsible for establishing strategic alliances as well as the planning and development of GridPoint's product roadmap to provide customer value and drive revenue growth.
Previously, Mr. Golden served as Vice President of Product Development at Trusted Edge, a provider of secure document retention & disposal software, where he was responsible for all software development and product implementation. Prior to that, Mr. Golden was Director of Product Management at Savi Technology, where he directed the development and redesign of the Savi SmartChain Platform, a real-time, distributed logistics platform providing end-to-end asset visibility and security. Before joining Savi, Mr. Golden spent several years at webMethods, a provider of business integration software, serving dual roles in product management and product marketing.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Golden was one of the first employees at Netscape Communications, where he was instrumental in numerous successful projects, including the development and deployment of marketplaceMCI, the world's first Internet-based electronic mall. Mr. Golden holds a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Mitch brings to ArtsBacker his media, business, and design backgrounds along with his passion for all things creative. As Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Grimix Media Group, Mitch gained experience working with clients in both the entertainment industry and the corporate world on a variety of media related projects. Well practiced not only in front of the camera, but also in all phases of the production of film, television, and other media arts, Mitch played an active part in both the creative and business operations of Grimix.
Though his career thus far has focused primarily on design and production, with experience in both film and television, Mitch has also found enjoyment and success in his new administrative role at ArtsBacker. In addition, Mitch is currently involved with two other early stage companies, Iris Unmanned and ClearPath, and is an instructor at Utah State University.
Mitch spent his undergraduate years at Brigham Young University where he studied media arts and business. For two of his undergraduate years Mitch volunteered as a full-time missionary in Los Angeles performing service for local citizens, government offices, libraries and hospitals. Mitch has a master’s degree in instructional technology and learning sciences from Utah State University where he was named his department’s most outstanding graduate teaching assistant and most outstanding master of science student.
Matt is ArtsBacker’s financial advisor. His MBA degree from the University of Utah and his years of business experience in finance are instrumental in the management of the on-going financial operations of ArtsBacker. Prior to joining the team at ArtsBacker, Matt was a Financial Specialist at Accenture. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of Grimix Media Group. He recently managed the offices of both the Liver and Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Departments at Intermountain Healthcare. This diverse background not only provides the business acumen needed, but demonstrates his desire to associate himself with great and worthwhile causes and companies.
Matt spent his undergraduate years at Brigham Young University where he was accepted to the top ranked Marriott School of Management and received his degree in Finance. During his undergraduate degree, he volunteered as a full-time missionary in San Salvador, El Salvador. Matt received the coveted honor of working for a year in the administrative office while also performing services for local citizens and providing support for the major disaster relief effort after a 7.6 earthquake devastated the region.
